Grossman demoted

September 25, 2007 Eric Zimmett Leave a comment

Every player has a point of no return–to the field that is. For Bears QB Rex Grossman, that point was six interceptions–including three Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys–nine sacks and a 45.2 quarterback rating.

Adam Schefter of NFL Network has reported that 10-year veteran Brian Griese will replace Grossman at quarterback.

Head coach Lovie Smith has not announced Griese as the starter, but has hinted that the team may need a change at quarterback.

“Will Rex Grossman start Sunday?” Smith was quoted Monday on NFL.com. ”Well, our evaluation process is going on right now, and if you come out to practice Wednesday, you’ll have a better idea of who will be starting at all positions.”

In Griese’s last season starting 10 games or more, he completed 69.3 percent of his passes for 2,632 yards with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions and a quarterback rating of 97.5.
