NFL.com is reporting that Clevelend Browns WR Dante Stallworth has been suspended for the entire 2009 NFL season after pleading guilty to DUI manslaughter.
Stallworth will be suspended without pay, and will not be able to participate in any team activities until he is reinstated.
“Your conduct endangered yourself and others, leading to the death of an innocent man,” NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was quoted on NFL.com. “The NFL and NFL players must live with the stain that you have placed on their reputations.”
Other veteran wideouts on the Browns roster include Josh Cribbs, Braylon Edwards, Mike Furrey and David Patten.

The deal was believed to be dead when the Raiders said they were no longer interested. Either Barnes or the Raiders gave in — likely Barnes after receiving very little interest from other teams. Former Raiders defensive back and kick-return specialist Chris Carr has inked a two-year, $5 million deal with the Baltimore Ravens. Carr spent last season with the Titans.
The St. Louis Rams have bid adieu to wide receiver Torry Holt. The 11-year veteran was due a $1.25 million signing bonus on March 17, and per Rotoworld the move saves the team $8 million in cap space. Holt’s release was expected – especially after the team chose not to invite Holt to their off-season conditioning program.

Profootballtalk is reporting that when the Panthers cut starting cornerback Ken Lucas they may have saved $2.375 million in cap space, but the veteran defensive back will count $8.33 million against the ‘09 cap because of unpaid bonuses–and the fact that ‘09 will be the last uncapped year.
