Quarterback report

November 1, 2007 Eric Zimmett Leave a comment

Ravens: Steve McNair plans to return as the starter after nearly a month spent recovering from back and groin injuries. Kyle Boller has started in his place the last three games. The Ravens take on the Steelers Sunday.

Panthers: Vinny Testaverde has been limited in practice this week and it’s becoming highly likely David Carr will start in his place Sunday at Tennessee.

Texans: Matt Schaub will not start Sunday against Oakland. Sage Rosenfels will make the third start of his career.

Raiders: Josh McCown has been named the starter over a struggling Daunte Culpepper for Sunday’s game against the Texans. McCown (toe) has been sidelined since week three.

Jets: Kellen Clemens will replace Chad Pennington Sunday against Washington.

Jaguars: Quinn Gray will replace David Gerrard Sunday against New Orleans.

Qualcomm Stadium open for business

October 26, 2007 Eric Zimmett Leave a comment

The San Diego Union-Tribune has reported that Qualcomm Stadium will be ready Sunday when the Chargers are scheduled to host the Houston Texans.

A firestorm that swept through Southern California forced thousands of people out of their homes, and into Qualcomm Stadium. About 5,000 evacuees remained at Qualcomm Wednesday.

Texans owner Bob McNair told the Houston Chronicle that he believes the game will be played in San Diego.

“The commissioner is exploring every option,” McNair was quoted on the Union-Tribune. “I believe that if the San Diego mayor tells the league they can host the game on Monday night, that’s when and where we’ll be playing.”

NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy was quoted on NFL.com as saying “no decision has been made at this time. When a decision is made, we will certainly let you know.”

Update: The city of San Diego and the NFL have made it official–the Chargers will play at Qualcomm Sunday at the previously schedule time.
