Bucs, Raiders say no to T.O.

Just say no. That’s what the D.A.R.E program taught me back in middle school. And that’s what the Bucs and Raiders have said– as well as more than a dozen other teams– to the possibility of adding free-agent receiver Terrell Owens to their rosters.

The Bucaneers and Raiders join the Titans, Vikings, 49ers, Giants, Dolphins, Redskins, Ravens, Falcons, Browns, Chargers, Eagles, Jets, Rams, Saints, Texans and Jags as teams who’ve denied interest in Owens.

And all this after the wideout’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said “several teams” were interested in TO and that a deal should be expected within the next week.

The Washington Post has learned that Shawn Springs is in Philadelphia visiting with the Eagles, and he has visited New England. The Post also mentioned Houston and New Orleans as options.

The Oakland Raiders, who have been nonexistent so far in free agency — quite a contrast to last year, and for good reason —  made a small splash Tuesday by re-signing three players and bringing on another. Tight end Tony Stewart, LB Isaiah Ekejiuba, and guard Cooper Carlisle were re-signed, while T Erik Pears joined the team.

Profootballtalk has learned that former Bucs linebacker Cato June will visit the Buffalo Bills Tuesday and Wednesday.

The Atlanta Falcons were busy Tuesday, re-signing six and signing exclusive rights contracts with RB Jason Snelling, CB Brent Grimes and S Antoine Harris. The six players re-signed were TE Justin Peelle, LB Coy Wire, DT Jason Jefferson, OL Ben Wilkerson, LB Tony Gilbert and S Jamaal Fudge.

The Baltimore Ravens have re-signed CB Evan Oglesby and WR Marcus Maxwell, per Rotoworld.

Rotoworld has also learned from the Baltimore Sun that the free-agent C Matt Burke will decide between the Vikings and the Ravens within the next two days.

The Bills have agreed to terms with unrestricted free agent CB Drayton Florence (Jaguars), KFFL has reported.

Free Agency Quick Hits – Day 4

Free agent RB LaMont Jordan and FB John Kuhn are visiting the Cardinals today, Rotoworld has reported.

Wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh (I’m never going to be able to spell that name on my own…kinda like Mississippi) left Minnesota last night without a contract, and headed home to Los Angeles, StarTribune.com has reported.

Phillip Buchanon will reportedly visit the Lions Monday night, per PFT. Buchanon started his career with the Raiders, where he showed signs of being a play-maker, but became a much better cover man with the Bucs.

The Saints have made an offer to CB Ron Bartell, per PFT.

With some room to move in terms of cap space, the Patriots are rumored to be making a move for Panthers DE Julius Peppers.

The Dolphins are reportedly not interested in free-agent wide receiver Laveranues Coles, even though it would reunite him with former teammate Chad Pennington.

KFFL has reported that the Raiders may be interesting in acquiring Rams OT Orlando Pace.

Free-agent QB Kurt Waner is expected to visit the 49ers today, KFFL has posted.

NFL Network’s Adam Schefter has reported the Seattle Seahawks have added DT Colin Cole – with a five-year, $21 million contract.

RZR Tuesday Morning Notes

February 17, 2009 Eric Zimmett Leave a comment

The Arizona Cardinals are expected to place the franchise tag on LB Karlos Dansby, and not veteran QB Kurt Warner, Adam Schefter of NFL Network is reporting.

The Baltimore Ravens have bid adieu to cornerback Chris McCalister.

“Retired” quarterback Brett Favre commented “I forsee getting the impulse to play.” Oh, boy. This one might not be over.

Veteran running back Fred Taylor has been cut by the Jags, after the team refused Taylor’s offer to take a voluntary pay cut.

The Broncos released six players Monday, including DE John Engelberger, TE Nate Jackson, LB Niko Koutouvides, S Marquand Manuel, DT Dewayne Robertson and LB Jamie Winborn, Profootballtalk has reported.

Update 1: The New Orleans Saints have dropped veteran running back Deuce McCalister. (Editor’s note: I was going to report the Saints dropped a Deuce…McCalister, but thought it would be in bad taste).

Update 2: Quarterback Daunte Culpepper and the Detroit Lions have restructured his one-year deal, Profootballtalk has learned.
