NFL Transactions

According to the Philadelphia Inquirer here are two transactions:

The Cincinnati Bengals signed RB Bernard Scott. Waived TE Matt Sherry, WR Mario Urrutia, QB Billy Farris and C James Smith

New York Giants signed CB Stoney Woodson and waived CB Rashad Barksdale.

Free Agency Quick Hits – Day 6

The Baltimore Ravens are close to re-signing LB Ray Lewis, NFL.com is reporting.

Adam Schefter has also learned that the Saints have re-signed WR Devery Henderson.

As our very own Sheila McCarthy posted this afternoon, free-agent QB Kurt Warner has re-signed with the Arizona Cardinals, on a two-year, $23 million deal with $19 million guaranteed.

The Giants have added safety C.C. Brown (must be Italian…), Adam Schefter is reporting. The deal is for one year.

 Jacksonville Jaguars OT Khalif Barnes is reportedly visiting with the Oakland Raiders Wednesday, per the SportingNews.

Free-agent DE Demetric Evans is said to be in negotiations with both his former team, the Redskins, and the 49ers. According to Schefter, he is expected to make a decision by Friday.

Profootballtalk has learned that the Atlanta Falcons have re-signed DE Chauncey Davis to a four-year deal believed to be in the range of $14 million.

Free Agency Quick Hits – Day 3

The New York Giants have added DL Chris Canty on a six-year, $42 million contract with $17.25 guaranteed, NFL.com has reported.

The Giants turned down running back Derrick Ward’s offer to remain with the team for $3 million a year, per Rotoworld.

NFL Network’s Adam Schefter has reported the Seattle Seahawks have added DT Colin Cole – with a five-year, $21 million contract.

Texas Tech WR Michael Crabtree will undergo surgery Wednesday on his left foot, and will be forced to miss his Pro Day workout.

Rotoworld has learned that the Vikings are intent on signing free-agent WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh before he leaves their facility.

More details on the Raiders re-signing of LB Isaiah Ekejiuba: the deal is over three years and worth $5.4 million, including $1.25 in a signing bonus KFFL has reported.

Free Agency Quick Hits – Day 3

The deal between the Denver Broncos and running back J.J. Arrington apparently hit a snag that threatens to kill the deal, the Denver Post  is reporting.

Steelers FA wide receiver Nate Washington is scheduled to meet with Tennessee Titans today, PFT has reported per the Tennessean.

The New York Giants have agreed to a four-year, $16 M deal wit DT Rocky Bernard, according to Rotoworld.

Wide receiver Laveranues Coles will reportedly decide as early as today whether he’ll join the Buffalo Bills or Miami Dolphins.

Free-agent WR Michael Clayton has re-signed with his former team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Dolphins free-agent cornerback Andre Goodman is visiting the Cleveland Browns today, PFT has reported.

The Chicago Bears have made a contract offer to retain free agent RB Kevin Jones, who is said to be on  the radar of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to Brad Briggs of the Chicago-Sun Times.

Giants lock up Jacobs

The New York Giants came to terms with franchise-tagged running back Brandon Jacobs today, on a four-year $25 million contract, NFL.com has reported.

Both parties are happy to get a long-term deal done,” general manager Jerry Reese said in a statement released by the team. “Now Brandon can totally concentrate on the offseason program and get himself ready to go this fall.”

Jacobs averaged five yards a pop for the second straight season, rushing for 1,089 yards on 219 carries in 2008. It was also Jacobs second consecutive 1,000+ yard season. Jacobs posted a career-high 15 rushing touchdowns, which tied for third in the NFL with Tennessee’s LenDale White.

RZR Notes: Goodell pay cut – Vick on block? – NFLPA Finalists

NFL Commissoner Roger Goodell will take a voluntary paycut for 2009, slicing his salary by about $2 million according to Michael McCarthy of USA Today. Goodell, 49, will also take a pay cut in fiscal 2008, which ends March 31.

The Falcons are seeking the rights to trade suspended quarterback Michael Vick, the AP is reporting.  Vick’s contract with the Falcons runs through 2013.

The New York Giants have used the franchise tag on running back Brandon Jacobs, but will seek to sign him to a long-term deal.

The Bears have released WR Marty Booker, linebacker Gilbert Gardner and waived linebacker Marcus Riley.

Troy Vincent, Trace Armstrong and lawyer DeMaurice Smith have been named as finalists to replace the late, great NFL Players Assoction executive director Gene Upshaw.
